Jay and Karalynne Brubaker, founders of Positive Impact Ministries, have always had a heart for serving others.

Jay is a retired St. Petersburg Police Officer who continues to serve as a reserve officer and teach at the St. Pete Police Academy. Karalynne, a mother of 3 daughters and grandmother to 8 granddaughters, has studied and taught the Bible for over two decades, participated in overseas missions and volunteered as a prayer partner for Dr. Lester Sumrall's ministry for many years.

Jay and Karalynne married in 2002, and in 2003, after an overseas mission trip, God spoke to Karalynne's heart and said, "St. Petersburg, FL is your mission field." Shortly after that, in April 2003, Positive Impact Ministries was born.

Since then, Jay and Karalynne and faithful volunteers have led church services, taught Bible studies, held numerous community outreach events, hosted fundraising banquets, and provided FREE groceries for thousands of children and their families.

Everyday Hero: St. Pete nonprofit making an impact. Cars lined up during the holidays to receive free food, including turkeys and hams for the holidays. But it's this way every week. "Every Saturday, we give fresh meats, produce, and pastries to our local neighbors," Brubaker said. "There's no registration, no sign-up, just show up."

Hi, my name is Karen Rae, and I'm the Executive Director of Positive Impact ST. PETE.

I have had the pleasure of growing up with  a mother and grandmother who instilled in me the belief that "No dream is too BIG for God!" They taught me that if God calls you to do something, he'll make way for you, even if there seems to be no way!

When I was a child, my grandmother started Champion Acres Lake and Campground, where she hosted camp meetings and gospel singings. My mother is the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Positive Impact.

Being of service to family, neighbors, friends, and our community was a crucial part of my childhood. I saw my mother and grandmother volunteering their time, using their talents and funds in many ways. Not only did they believe it was the right thing to do, but they truly enjoyed serving others. Watching the pleasure they gained from giving back was inspiring and became a common theme in the lives of my sisters and myself.

My career choice and passion for helping and serving others have evolved in a way that was modeled to me by my mother and grandmother. I am honored to carry on their legacy and participate in what God is doing through Positive Impact ST. PETE and I invite you to join us.
